Learn about Olakino & our team!

What is Olakino?
Olakino is a Hawaiian word that refers the health and vitality of the body. The word 'ola' means life and health, while 'kino' means body. Olakino beautifully brings together healthy living through physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Practicing Olakino involves taking care of oneself in all aspects of life – from eating a nutritious diet and staying physically active, to managing stress, getting enough sleep and fostering positive relationships with others.
By following the principles of Olakino, individuals can improve their physical health, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes and obesity. Regular exercise and a balanced diet can help maintain a healthy weight, strengthen muscles and bones and boost the immune system. Managing stress and getting enough sleep will also improve mental health by reducing anxiety, depression and other negative emotions. Social connections are also an important component of Olakino.
Olakino is our philosophy.
Many modern medical practices, including medications, have led to an increase in lifespan. However, these treatments are often prescribed as a reaction to the unhealthful behaviors that have consumed our lives for years. Olakino Center for Lifestyle Medicine approaches health differently. Our goal is to not only help people understand the benefits of a healthier lifestyle but also provide the tools and education to enable change. Together, we’ll work to improve your health using increased activity, cleaner nutrition, better sleep, stress management, positive social connections, and avoiding toxins.
